Part 1:

1. What is the definition of an amulet? (2)
2. Give one specific event in history when a magical amulet was used and explain why it was used. (5)
3. ‘Amulet’ is derived from what Latin word? (2)
4. Potential amulets could include what objects? Name at least four! (4)
5. An ancient tradition in China involves what with regards to amulets? (5)
6. The ancient Egyptians had many amulets for different occasions and needs. Describe two of these! (2)
7. What significance does the rune Eoh have to do with amulets? (2)
8. What do figures of elephant’s traditionally mean with regards to protection? (2)
9. With referance to demonology, explain the types of amulets used and why? (4)
10. How does a talisman differ from an amulet? (2)

Part 2:

Create your own magically charmed amulet. Describe why you have chosen this to be your amulet and what you use it for. What does it protect you from? Why is it the particular shape? Please write at least 200 words.

Bonus:

Post a picture of a traditional amulet and describe what it is used for.

Part 1: 30 points
Part 2: 50 points
Bonus: 10 points

Total available points: 90
