So Mugglenet has an article here about it, but does anyone else feel that Harry Potter got snubbed by the Oscars?

Don't get me wrong, I understand the films weren't outstanding in many of the categories, and I'm not saying they deserved to win in the categories this year or any other year they were nominated for (as I really don't think they do, nor did I expect them to xD), but honesty, after ten years and eight movies in the number one franchise, they didn't even have a little Harry Potter montage to recognize them? After all--and not to start up the Twilight/HP debate or anything, this is just an example--they played a clip from the Twilight series, which has never even been nominated for an Oscar, while they never showed anything from the HP films. And really, DHP2 was quite good compared to many of the others. I was just extremely disappointed that they couldn't give a nod to the series, as they have done for many other series over the years, and instead, all it got was an awful joke about it finally being over.

Ah well, not gonna say the Academy Awards have ever really been fair...

Even though I'm not huge on these award things, I was really ticked off about the Make Up and Visual Effects. Really....they had to fake scars, bloody up people, make them looks horrible, give people (like Helena) fake teeth and bad hair (Scabior) and even had the fake the goblins and make them look real. Then the whole visual effects? Don't get me wrong, I haven't seen Hugo, but to be honest, they made a DRAGON, removed Voldemort's nose, done the spells, did the whole Harry/Voldemort flying, The Grey Lady, the fire in the RoR, all sorts of stuff and they didn't even get that? I was a bit upset it didn't even get nominated for Best Picture or any of the Supporting Actors/Actress, but if anything, they should have won the Visual Effects.

Ooo, I'm so with you on the Make Up. That's the one I really thought they had a chance of winning. I mean, the Iron Lady, really?! My mom saw it and said it was amazing, but from the clips they showed it looked like normal day to day make up, just from a different time era, while there was so much more the make up artists for Harry Potter did well. *grinds teeth* I did see Hugo, and while they did have some pretty cool visual effects, I'm not sure they deserved to win it, either. Rarrrr.

And, WHERE IN THE WORLD WAS ALEXANDRE'S DESPLAT'S NOMINATION FOR BEST ORIGINAL SCORE?!?!?!?! It's bad enough Howard Shore and John Williams lost to what's-his-face for the Artist, but Desplat totally earned at least a nomination!! I don't know if's not considered an "Original Score" since John William came up with the original themes, but I think it's a shame he wasn't nominated.
